Gift Art: Afternoon's Peace

Description

Finally finished this! So this was supposed to be for and contest that ended on the 1st of this month but I started late and got carried away with the background and since I'd done so much on it already I decided I'd let it go as a nice bit of gift art for Kagay instead.

Once I missed the deadline I decided I would use this to try and work on developing my shading style a little more and since this was my first piece of the new year I really want to start it with a good note. I'm actually really pleased with how well the cell shading looks. My background could still do with some work but I'll get there. I recently just discovered the mixing brush tool in Photoshop and although I could have redone the background with it I really didn't want to spend all that time redoing it but I'll definitely look into using it more.

Anyway, the two characters in this in my own Inugami, Renn and Kagay's Wolf Yokai, Yasu. I though that since they were both creatures of Japanese folklore I thought it only right that they'd fit together and I wanted to incorporate that into the piece as well hence the shrine setting and cranes.

Oh my :iconuguufaceplz:
What a huge gift art ;A;

Since this was supposed to be a contest entry I totally appreciate that you
finished this and put so much work into it. I will do something in return whenever I can find the time! <3

It's really impressive with the complete background including a building (I think those are very difficult)
and I love the calm mood in this. So nice to see Yasu in 'his world' with alle the old japanese elements
and it's also cool that you added your own character to this even if it was not for the contest anymore.

The shading looks really detailed and turned out very good!

Thank you so much for this big gift really! ;3;
I highly appreciate this!
